What is a Request to Remove Credit Freeze?
You may have put a freeze on your credit in order to take protective measures against identity theft, or for other proactive reasons. If you would like to apply for a new credit account, such as a credit card or a loan, you may be interested in "unfreezing" your credit report in order to give potential creditors access to your file. If you are uncertain which credit agencies you froze your account with, you may have to engage in the unfreezing process with all three.
When to use a Request to Remove Credit Freeze:
- You want to request that a credit bureau remove a fraud alert from your credit file.
- You want to provide the documentation that is needed in order to remove a fraud alert.
